Introduction to LAND OF MEN Empty

LAND OF MEN is an open, nearly limitless roleplay about mythology, legend, and office life.

Wait, what?

Okay, I'll explain.

In this world, gods exist. And all gods, too, not just the Greeks or the Egyptians: all of them. They're still here, roaming the earth and trying to fit in with the modern society. Of course, their holy lands and their heavens still exist as well, but who could sit there for all eternity? Where's the fun? Monsters, too, exist: the more humanoid of them trying to fit into society, the less human trying to hide from it.

Thing is, gods and monsters have bred into the human (and animal, sometimes) populations. An easy way to look at this is:

GOD (An all powerful being, not necessarily perfect, but immortal and wicked strong. Minor gods are more likely to fit in.)
|
HERO (The offspring of a God and a human. They have special powers and strengths, but are not as powerful at their god parents. Fit in quite well.)
|
LEADER (A second-generation Godchild. Their parents are one human, one Hero. These are society's movers and shakers: they have extended influence and have special strengths, but no superhuman powers. Children of two Heroes are still Heroes.)

MONSTER (A nonhuman, nonGod creature. Sometimes evil, sometimes not. Ranges from the Lock Ness Monster to Jackalopes to Werewolves.)
|
BEAST (The offspring of a Monster (hopefully a more humanoid one) and a human. Somewhat different from a regular human: powers equivalent to that of a Hero, but relating to their parent Monster.)
|
CRYPTID (Monster equivalent of a Leader. Two Beast parents makes another Beast, however referred to as a MixBreed on occasion.)

Unfortunately, monsters and Gods can't just do what they did previously anymore. Nobody sits in lakes and waits for beautiful maidens to go swimming or gives travelers riddles. It's no longer practical. So most of them have to get jobs to support themselves.

And that's where Cloud Corps and Inferno Inc come into play.

Inferno Inc was founded in 1852, to organize the evil that roamed the world. They were elitist about who they hired: there were no humans in the organization. Soon after, in 1854, Cloud Corps was founded to keep them in their places.

Each company offers free housing to their employees: you don't have to use it, but hey, free room and board, even if it is an old shed or a basement. They both work like office hierarchies with a militant twist. Monsters, Gods, Beasts, Heroes, everyone is up for hire (except for humans, who are not accepted at Inferno, and the less sentient monsters are usually not paid).

In short: Inferno Inc wants to rule the world, Cloud Corps wants to save it. All in a day's work.
